Video News release for Ohio Science Academy Meeting Report

Four Notre Dame College students to present Fruit fly Genetic experiments at
Ohio Science Academy Meeting.

Four students from Notre Dame College will attend the statewide Ohio Science Academy
annual meeting at Capital University on April 11th 2015, to present research on fruit fly genetic
wing studies.
Dr. Matthew Johnson, Biology Department Chair, will take four honor
students: Seniors Brittany Stuwicki, Marcia Leone: Juniors Brian Burlestone,
and Validimir Boyken. These four students were chosen for their independent
research extra credit projects.
This will be the third time that Notre Dame College have presented their
work to the annual meeting. The Ohio Science Academy is a membershipbased organization that first met officially in 1851. Its mission is to foster
innovation, discovery, curiosity, and to benefit society as a whole.
The most interesting aspect for this year is that all of the projects are
from actual research that the students have accomplished in the last

semester about the genetics concerning fruit fly wing shedding, says Dr.
Matthew Johnson. They will be presenting their posters and research to
scientists from other universities around Ohio, which will give them exposure
to what other students and other scientists. The cool thing is that the people
who will listening will also be judging the students abilities to research and
asking detailed questions about it.
