As an instructor and a PhD candidate in the Spanish and Portuguese Department at the UC Davis, I am
pleased to write this letter on behalf of Carolyne Cohen for admission to your institution.
I first met Carolyne in my Spanish 3 course during the Fall 2010 quarter. She earned high marks in my
class and received an outstanding grade as a result. Carolyne was evaluated on grammar, vocabulary, oral
presentations and writing ability in Spanish, in which she performed exceptionally well, evidencing her
outstanding ability to understand new material and think critically.
She has manifested her interest to become a teacher and I am convinced her experience working with
students of many backgrounds qualify her for such a career. Her creativity as well as her motivation to
engage with children will also allow her to perform ideally as a teacher.
Carolyne has consistently shown a strong desire to learn beyond the academic requirements and is
committed to studying and developing professional experience, which I think would only allow her to
take advantage from a teaching credential program. Her academic experience and knowledge of other
languages and cultures will allow her to adapt to the challenges of studying and working in diverse
environments.
