Thomasville, NC

The Thomasville Police Department and Thomasville City School Administrators are addressing recent
concerns of teenage safety. Thomasville Police have responded to numerous incidents of physical
confrontations involving groups of teenagers occurring within the community. The altercations have
taken place off campus and two arrests have been made with additional arrests pending.
Due to the concerns of the confrontations, Thomasville Police have provided additional personnel to
be in and around the schools to help assure the safety of our students.
Thomasville Police Department and Thomasville City Schools have partnered to develop strategies to
identify long-term solutions to address this issue. TPD and TCS will be reaching out to the community
to enhance this partnership and develop a multi-prong approach to ensure the safety of our teens.
Dr. Maria Petrie-Martin, Superintendent of TCS and Chief Jeffrey Insley of TPD stand together to
prevent further issues.
