STABILITY TEST FOR RES’
TESTING PROCEDURE OF
iCTED EARTH FAULT
PROTECTION (TRANSFORMERS & REACTORS )
REF STABILTY TEST FOR TRANSFORMER
After opening the C.B. and isolators at both side (H.V and LV.
side) of transformer apply 440 V three phase voltage at Three
Phase bushings of H.V. side with the help of three phase variac.
Earth the R phase of the LV side (through isolator earth switch or
discharge rod)
Measure the spill phase current in REF relay which should be
nearly zero.
‘Switch off 440V supply.
Reverse the polarity of R phase Bushing CT and again switch on
440V supply. Appreciable spill current will appear in REF relay.
Normalise the CT circuit which was revered in step no. (5) after
switching off 440V supply.
Repeat the same procedure for Y and B phases and note down
the resuits in given table.
Normalise the connections of CT and remove feeding of three
phase supply.

REF STABILTY TEST FOR REACTOR
1) After opening the C.B. and isolators remove the jumpers of three
phase bushings. Neutral will remain grounded,
2) Apply 11 KV voltage at Three Phase bushings with 440V/11 KV
transformer.
3) Measure the spill phase current in REF relay which should be
nearly zero.
4) Switch off 40V supply to 440V/11KV transformer.
5) Reverse the polarity of R phase bushing CT.
6) Switch on 440V power supply to 440 V/11KV transformer.
7) — Appreciable spill current will appear in REF coil. Measure this
current
8) _ Now normalize the polarity of the Bushing CT which was reversed
in step (5)
9) Repeat the same procedure for Y and B phase and note down the
spill current in given table.
10) After completing the test for all three phases normalize the reactor
CT connection and jumpers.
