Field trip to Phra Pradaeng

Dear Parents and Carers,

As part of our ongoing ‘How the World Works’ unit we will be taking the children on a
fieldtrip to Phra Pradaeng Royal Forestry Green Area, to investigate the life cycle of
plants and to explore animals in the natural environment.

The children will have an opportunity to:

1. Look for seeds, distinguish what a seed is and what’s not and identify which
trees have which seeds.
2. Prepare seeds for planting, some need soaking, cracking etc.
3. Sow seeds, each type has a different method.
4. Take little seedlings from a germination tray to be repotted into a bigger
bag so they can be planted in 6 months time.
5. Plant a tree at the reforestation site next to the nursery.
