Unit 1 Earth Science and Systems

Class Rules
Keep chat on topic and related to class.
Come prepared. (Be caught up on the
calendar or have questions ready)
Participate (respond to questions)
Raise Your Hand if you have a question or
want to slow down.

Objectives
After today, you will:

Give an example of how the spheres
interact.

hypothesis.

Discussion
What are the different spheres?
What have you done that relates to one or
more of these spheres?
Post in the discussion! Four posts total!

Earth's Spheres
Biosphere
Lithosphere
Hydrosphere
Atmosphere
Cryosphere

Earths Spheres
Biosphere - living things. Plants, animals, etc.
Lithosphere - Rocks, soil, earth.
Hydrosphere - Oceans, rivers, lakes.
Atmosphere - Oxygen, nitrogen.
Cryosphere - Glaciers, ice caps

List ways the spheres influence each

other.
Natural disasters, human activity, cycles?

Lithosphere
Hydrosphere
Atmosphere
Cryosphere

How do they relate to each other?

If a volcano (lithosphere) erupts, sending out
fire, gas, dust, and rocks, what other spheres
does it impact? How?
If the the ice caps melt (cryosphere) would it
affect the hydrosphere? Biosphere?

What is the ozone layer? Why is it

important?
