A magical experience
in the jungles of
Central India...

Treading softly in the Jungle...

KIPLING CAMP
Kipling Camp is the perfect
destination to relax in idyllic
surrounds and explore the
remote forests and villages of
central India. Established in
1982 on the edge of Kanha
National Park by a family of
conservationists, it is one of the
finest wildlife camps in India with
attention given to every detail.
ACCOMMODATION
Comfortable 2 to 4 room
cottages, each with its own
verandah, are set in acres of
unspoilt jungle. There are 15
double rooms with twin or double
beds and en suite bathrooms.
Popular with guests is a private
cottage, which has a bedroom,
a sitting room and a patio
overlooking the waterhole.
KANHA NATIONAL PARK
In the heart of Kipling country
and one of Asias premier wildlife
reserves, Kanha is perhaps the
best place in the world to see wild
tigers. Guests are taken on safari
in open 4WD vehicles at dawn
and in the afternoon. There are
excellent opportunities for wildlife
photography and bird watching.
In order to ensure good wildlife
sightings, particularly of the tiger,
a stay of at least 3 to 4 days is
recommended.

ACTIVITIES
Apart from visits to the Park,
guests can bird-watch around
the Camp, have a relaxing
massage, watch the wildlife
coming to drink at the waterhole,
and explore the local villages
with their traditional architecture
and colourful markets. At night
there are film shows and tribal
dances. Listening to the sounds
of the jungle around a campfire,
provides a perfect end to an
exciting day.

TARA THE ELEPHANT

Kipling has been Taras home
since 1989. Arguably the most
famous Asian elephant in the
world, she is the heroine of
Travels on my Elephant.
Tara is the much-loved star of
the Camp. Her favourite pastime
is to be bathed and scrubbed
in the Banjar River.

GETTING THERE
Kipling Camp is well connected
with flights to Jabalpur (a 160 km
drive) and Nagpur (260 km) from
Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore,
Hyderabad and Kolkata. There
are also good overnight trains
to Jabalpur. Kanha is also well
connected to Bandhavgarh and
Pench Tiger Reserves.
