Re: Christopher Maurice Allens Application
Dear Graduate Admissions Committee,
It is with great pleasure to write a letter of reference on behalf of Mr. Christopher Maurice Allen,
a BSW student in the School of Social Work at Wayne State University. Mr. Allen requested a
letter of recommendation from me to accompany his application for the graduate program in the
Higher Education Leadership at the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, and I agreed to write
one without any reservations.
I am currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at Wayne State University
where Mr. Allen is currently a BSW student. I have known him since fall semester of 2013 and
he was enrolled in my SW 3510 Human Behavior in the Social Environment (fall 2013) and SW
3020 Social Work Practice Methods II (winter 2014) classes. I have had the opportunity to
observe his academic performance in my class. He proved himself to be an exceptional student.
He has managed to complete all his given tasks well beyond my expectations with impressive
results. I am very impressed with his ability to complete all given tasks promptly, diligently, and
thoroughly. In particular, his writing is extremely strong, and he brought new perspectives and
insights to class discussions and activities. His final grades for both of my classes were A-.
Based on my observation, I would rate his oral and written skills as excellent.
Mr. Allens academic and career goals are well-aligned with the values and goals of the Higher
Education Leadership at the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater. He has demonstrated strong
potential for leadership and is highly capable of making a difference to college and university
students in higher education. He sets high standards for himself and others and collaborates well
with others, as he demonstrated in my class. I am highly confident he will continue to do well at
in the graduate program at the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater and beyond. It is without a
doubt that he will make significant contribution to the student affairs professional community,

and the graduate program in the Higher Education Leadership at the University of Wisconsin,
Whitewater is the first step towards realizing his academic and career goals.
Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or concerns. I can be reached by
email at fl4684@wayne.edu. Thank you very much for your consideration.
Sincerely,

Jun Sung Hong, PhD
