Task Card Set
5.NBT.5 and 5.NBT.6

A note about this task card set:

This set was created in response to a need that my students had this year. Many of my
students were able to perform the basic operations, but did not always pay attention
to what kind of problem they were doing. If I told them it was a division problem, they
divided, and the same for multiplication, but often they did not read carefully to make
the decision for themselves. Sound familiar?
This set can be used for various other purposes, however. Not all problems have
remainders, but I have included some problems that require students to interpret
what they would need to do with the remainder. You could require remainders as a
part of the answer, or have your students interpret what should be done about the
remainder (Ignore it? Round up?) and explain on the answer sheet. For this purpose, I
have included an answer sheet with extra space. You could also use notebook paper,
obviously.
I hope this set is helpful to you!
