First Grade Newsletter

October 2014
Reading Incentives
This month the First Grade Team
will begin the Read to Bead
program. Each student will be
given a reading tag to be kept at
school. At the end of each month,
students will be given one bead for
every hundred minutes they read
that month. Reading minutes
should be recorded on students
reading logs each night. At the end
of the month, please calculate your
childs reading minute totals.

Content
This month in content we are
learning about
Rocks and Fossils.
We will also begin
our Personal Safety
Unit.

Reminder
Fall Into Words Parade
The parade will begin at 10:00.
Please make sure that the costume
can be worn over their clothes.
Parents are welcome to join us to
watch the parade, however due to
the number of spectators usually in
attendance, we cannot allow
parents to come back to the
classroom following the parade.
Students are asked to wear a
vocabulary word that describes
their costume. More information
will come as the event approaches.

Cooler weather is approaching.

Please remember to label your
childs coat and hat to ensure lost
items are returned.
