Working from the first reliable source | found, today during my 30 minutes of research, | found an
article called Revisiting reading for pleasure. This article supported the first article I found and
talked about most of the same things, but it also included different perspectives of reading, such
as “reading as life-coping’. While both of these articles are reliable and great articles, they both
focus on England. In the book, Starting Out Right, the author talks about a few of the reasons
children in America do not read as much as they should, These reasons include: the lack of
knowledge of the nature and purposes of reading before kindergarten, not having a parent read
to them as a child, and how the parents talked to them as an infant. Students may not enjoy
reading later in life because they may associate reading with a negative feeling, such as humility,
‘and be discouraged from reading later in life.
My three questions are:
1) Where are books we can check out located?
2) How olds too old when it comes to research? (i.e. 10+ years, 15+ years, etc.)
3) How do | access the online database that our library offers?
