Repetition of Phrases/Words
Read your draft out loud to yourself.
Do you hear the same words over
and over again?
Do you see the same words over and
OVER again?
Do you feel like you have repeated
yourself over and OVER again?

Sentence Structure and Length

This sentence has five words. Here are five more words. Five-word
sentences are fine. But several together become monotonous. Listen to what
is happening. The writing is getting boring. The sound of it drones. Its like a
stuck record. The ear demands some variety. Now listen. I vary the sentence
length, and I create music. Music. The writing sings. It has a pleasant rhythm,
a lilt, a harmony. I use short sentences. And I use sentences of medium
length. And sometimes, when I am certain the reader is rested, I will engage
him with a sentence of considerable length, a sentence that burns with energy
and builds with all the impetus of a crescendo, the roll of the drums, the crash
of the cymbalssounds that say listen to this, it is important.

Verb Tense? What is that mean?

Verb Tense Errors
Verb tenseerrors occurred when you used the wrong verb
tense. The verb tense tells the reader of your sentences when
the action is taking place. It canbe in the past, the present or
thefuture. You will be consistent on verb tense, unless there
was some reason to make a switch to a different tense.
Some examples of verb tense errors include:
Igoto thestoreand Iboughtmilk.Gois a present tense
verb.Boughtis a past tense verb. Bought should bebuymilk
since these two events both occur at the same time.
Iwill eatfish fordinneranddrankmilk with my dinner. Will
eatis a future tense verb butdrankis a past tense verb. Since
the dinner is going to happen in the future, it is not possible
that the milk was drunk already.
Can you find the VERB TENSE ERRORS?

Limerick about yourself
WHAT IS A LIMERICK?
Limericks are one of the most fun and well-known poetic forms. No one knows for
sure where the name limerick comes from, but most people assume it is
related to the county of Limerick, in Ireland.
The reason limericks are so much fun is because they are short, rhyming, funny,
and have a bouncy rhythm that makes them easy to memorize. In this lesson, Ill
show you how you can write your own limericks in just a few easy steps.
THE RULES OF LIMERICKS
Limericks, like all poetic forms, have a set of rules that you need to follow. The
rules for a limerick are fairly simple:
They are five lines long.
Lines 1, 2, and 5 rhyme with one another.
Lines 3 and 4 rhyme with each other.
They have a distinctive rhythm (which Ill explain shortly)
They are usually funny.
