of an object, examples of how to use perimeter)

Explain iPad Perimeter Activity


o Students will be in partners (chosen by the teacher) and receive one iPad
o Using the app Book Creator, the partners will create a book with multiple pages about
perimeter using videos, pictures, and drawings
o Pages that must be included:
!
Title page, including who the book was created by
!
What is perimeter? (video of partners explaining perimeter. They may want
to walk the perimeter of objects in their video to help further explain)
!
How do you find the perimeter of an object? (either a drawing with text or
video)
!
Create an example problem and solve it
!
Video of partners measuring the perimeter of an object in the classroom
!
Video or text explaining ways that perimeter can be used in real life

Guided Practice & Checking for Understanding:

Show the students the book that I created and explain how to use the app
o How to draw, add text, take a video and attach it, etc.

Pass out instructions to each student then assign partners and pass out iPads

Explain that if a pair cannot work well together or if the class as a whole gets too noisy, there are
worksheets on perimeter that can be done instead.

Independent & Guided Practice:
o Allow students to work for the remaining time
o If students finish before others, they can spend time decorating their book more and adding
detail
Closure:

Let the students share their videos with the class for the remaining time! If there is no time for this,
they may share during extra release time at the end of the day. Question and praise students
throughout their presentation.
