SUMMARY

The Philippines employment sector has been always given the focus by the
government in order to uplift the economy, most especially to alleviate
poverty. In order to address such concern, investors coming in and tourist
destinations have been developed in order to generate jobs for every Filipino.
By this, the percentage of unemployed Filipino will decrease as projected up
to

2016.

Filipinos

who

are

underemployed

will

also

have

greater

opportunities of having another job after contracts ended. And, newly


graduates will have the opportunity to secure job fitting for their skills and
abilities.

As projected, unemployment rate of 7% in 2012 will be lessen for about 1 to


2 percent by generating more labor force to 1.7 to 1.9 targeting additional
employed persons per year by the year 2016 lowering it into 6.5 to 6.7
percent. Quality of employment is closely monitored as part of the strategic
plan

designed

by

the

government

in

order

to

lessen

also

the

underemployment rate from 20% of 2012 into 17% of 2016. Thus, generated
employment

every

year

is

target

to

address

unemployment

and

underemployment rate in the country through investors coming in.

The rating of unemployed and underemployed individual targets to be lessen


from 2012 up to 2016. Thus, it shows great development in the aspect of
labor and employment in the country.
