What students need to know?

Determine which school to transfer to
Division I, II, or III

Full-time student at an NCAA or NAIA institution

Permission-to-contact letter
Written permission to contact the new coach
If current school does not give letters, student can transfer
still just cannot receive athletics scholarship until attending
new school for 1 academic year.

Summer Semesters do not count for Semesters required

Transfer types
2-4
Two-year institution transferring to a four-year
institution

4-2-4
Four-year institution transfer to a two-year
institution and transferring to a four-year
institution

Qualifier Definitions:
Qualifier

Graduated from high school

Successfully completed the required core curriculum
Specified minimum GPA in core curriculum
Specified minimum SAT or ACT scores

Partial Qualifier: Division II only

Has met some academic requirements
Can practice on campus and receive financial aid
Cannot play for 1 academic year

Non- Qualifier:
has not graduated from high school, at the time specified by NCAA
rules
not successfully completed required core curriculum
does not have minimum GPA or SAT/ ACT scored required

2-4: Division I

Enrolled in college prior to

Aug. 1, 2012

Qualifier
Completed 1 semester as a full time student
Earn an average of 12 credit hours for each term of transferable
credit
GPA of 2.0 in transferable credits

Non-Qualifier
Completed 3 semester as a full time student
Graduate from a 2-year institution, earned 25% of credit hours at
the institution that awards degree
Earn 48 semester transferable degree credit hours
6 semester hours of English
3 semester hours of Math
GPA of 2.0 in transferable credits

2-4: Divison I

Enrolled on or after Aug. 1,

2012

Qualifier
Completed 1 semester as a full time student
Earn an average of 12 credit hours for each term of transferable
credit
GPA of 2.5 in transferable credits

Non-Qualifier
Completed 3 semester as a full time student
Graduate from a 2-year institution, earned 25% of credit hours at
the institution that awards degree
Earn 48 semester transferable degree credit hours
6 semester hours of English
3 semester hours of Math
3 semester hours of Natural/ Physical Science
GPA of 2.5 in transferable credits

2-4 Division II
Qualifier
Completed 1 semester as a full time student
Earn an average of 12 credit hours for each term of transferable credit
GPA of 2.0 in transferable credits

Partial Qualifier
Completed 2 semesters as a full time student

and
Graduate from 2-year school and earn 25% of degree at awarding
institution

Or
Complete average of 12 semester transferable- degree credits for each
