LeNoir 1 Joseph LeNoir Professor Lynn Raymond UWRT 1102-E01 28 January 2015 we #3 France My family never kept records of ancestors or the history of or family’s roots, but we vaguely know the origin of our ancestors. My father’s side of the family has connections to France and my father’s ancestors most likely came from or were near France. Although my family does not know of records of my family emigrating from France, my father and the rest of his family are sure that they are of French descent. ‘The national flag of France is known as the “Le drapeau tricolore”, or it is known in English as the French Tricolor. The French flag is simply three vertical stripes of color that are in order from left to right: blue, white, and red. The French flag was designed this way during the French Revolution in the late 1700's for the purposes of white as the traditional color of France and red and blue from Parisian militia. The World Factbook explains, “the origin of the flag dates to 1790 and the French Revolution when the “ancient French color" of white was combined with the blue and red colors of the Parisian militia; the official flag for all French dependent ae areas” (CIA, The French national anthem, known as “La Marseillaise”, was composed about the ‘same time as when the le drapeau tricolore was created. La Marscillaise was composed in one night during the French Revolution in 1792. If one is not a French citizen by birth, you may apply for French citizenship if you are over the age of eighteen and when you have lived in the country for five years. One may also epply for French citizenship if a person married a French citizen, When one applies for French citizenship, you also apply for BU citizenship, The process of becoming a French citizen is lengthy and may take up to two years. One source explains that, “your application will be assessed by the police, mayor's office and various other governmental departments, and you may also be interviewed by the police, ina (Expatica) ) However, this is the only necessary process which can take up to two years requirements to become a French citizen, meaning that in time, | may apply for French fl move to France. citizenship if | marry a French citizen or My family is not deeply connected to France or our ancestors, but itis important to know about the place of origin that your family comes from, France may not be the exact spot that my ancestors came from, but it is the most likely place.
