He's always looking out for Lennie’s best interest and keeping out of sticky situations. Throughout the novel, George shows his loyalty to Lennie by helping him survive in a world where it would be difficult for him to live by giving him peace of mind. At one point in the story, George says to Lennie: “I got you! You can't keep a job and you lose me ever’ job | get. Jus’ keep shovin’ all over the country all the time. An’ that ain't the worst. You get in trouble. You do bad things and | got to get you out..." George definitely plays a role in being his brothers keeper. “I want you to stay with me, Lennie, Jesus Christ, somebody'd shoot you for a coyote if you if you was by yourself. No, you stay with me. Your Aunt Clara wouldn't ike you running out by yourself.”- George. Obviously, George was looking out for Lennie in every way he can. ‘Some might say that George was not Lennie’s brother's keeper because of what George had to do at the end of the story. However, George was in a position where the brotherly thing would have been to do the thing that may not have been considered the “right” thing to do. George's thought process, however, was in the right place. His mind was on Lennie's best interest and his main goal was to take care of Lennie. George was Lennie's brothers keeper, and was looking out for him to the end.
