QUESTION 5 HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADDRESS YOUR AUDIENCE?
WHAT DID YOUR AUDIENCE ASK FOR
WHEN YOU CONDUCTED YOUR AUDIENCE RESEARCH? While conducting my research with my audience I gathered multiple responses. I found out that - They prefer Hip-Hop/Rap over the two other optional genres; Reggae and Pop - The colour scheme more favourable was brown over red and yellow - They found a mid-shot camera take more interesting than a close-up shot and a long-shot.
Its very important that you get the
response of your audience as the audience consumes my media product. Gathering responses from my audience I am able to meet my needs in order to create a successful magazine due to valuable feedback.
WHICH ELEMENTS DID YOU ABIDE BY OR
NOT IN ORDER TO MEET THEIR NEEDS/REQUIREMENTS?
I found out from my
audience that they wanted to see a detailed magazine with a lot of news coverage. I took this on board and merged more information onto my magazine giving my audience more entertainment.
They also suggested that
using a bigger masthead and richer image in contrast I will be able to draw in the possible consumers
Another element my audience suggested was that my masthead should
be behind the head of the main subject. The reasons they gave for this is that the main image is what draws the attention of a possible consumers. By having the masthead behind instead of in front of the main image the main image is allowed to stand out more.
FRONT PAGE: WHAT IS AESTHETICALLY
PLEASING ABOUT THIS MAGAZINE PAGE? - I purposely took the word 'Play' and added my own twist on it by rotating the 'A' clockwise to simulate a play button. -The cover-lines work well as none of them cross over the face of the main image. -The grey and the brown colour scheme works well with each which makes the magazine front cover to be well structured due to colour. -There isnt a lot of plain empty spaces. -The main image, the main cover-line and the masthead are the three top elements which make this media product resemble a successful magazine.
-I used quotes from
famous artists in the hiphop industry which drags in the audience. - The person I used for the main image will attract a lot of female attention. -The lists of artists listed on the left and right side of the front page artists which are well know in the industry. -Since this magazine is aimed at teenagers I used a teenager to represent and dominate the front age.
CONTENTS PAGE: WHAT IS AESTHETICALLY
PLEASING ABOUT THIS MAGAZINE PAGE? -The contents page has information on three major upcoming artists. This will push the audience to want to learn more about the magazine. -The title contents is one of the biggest font on the contents page like professional magazines.
-The black line at the
bottom of the page separates the rest of the contents page away from the issue number.
-On the right side of the
magazine there are three images followed by a features and regulars which encourages the viewer to investigate. -Including the subscribe notice at the top of the page works well as it is beside 'Contents', a large font which will make it harder for the audience to miss the subscribe. -A light grey and brown colour scheme is used consistently throughout the contents page.
DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD: WHAT IS
AESTHETICALLY PLEASING ABOUT THIS For my double page spread I took PAGE? into consideration that this is a
exclusive interview. Baring this
thought, I had Young Dee be enthusiastic and to be posed with a fun attraction for the NVC having him smile arms and his head facing in the direction of the interview. The artist of the page looks has brown skin so I decided to use the same brown tone in his skin a implemented it into the font colour. This brown theme is also communicated throughout the magazine. I used a rectangles brown bold rectangles in spaces for the double page. Using bold brown shapes matches his bold characteristics.
