InTASC Standard Six: Assessment

The teacher understands and uses multiple methods of assessment to

engage learners in their own growth, to monitor learner progress,
and to guide the teachers and learners decision making.

Name of Artifact: Skills Builder: Grade and Behavior Checker

Date: April 21, 2015
Course: EDUC 201: Technology in Education
Brief Description: Created a behavior checklist and grade book in Excel to
monitor grades and behaviors.
Rationale:
Under InTASC Standard Six: Assessment it states, The teacher knows when
and how to engage learners in analyzing their own assessment results and in
helping to set goals for their own learning.By creating a formula in Excel to
calculate final or average grade, a student can use this to see where they stand
and what needs to be done to get the grade they want. For example, a student
might set a goal for a high B in the class and can calculate what they roughly need
to get for each assignment to reach that goal. This helps them work hard to
accomplish goals and also allows me to monitor their progress. The behavior
checklist is another method to measure their progress in class. This can also help
me understand what areas most of the students did not understand, so I can review
with them in order to receive full mastery of the content.
