My familys country of origin is Denmark. Denmark

is the country of origin of the Vikings1. To become a
citizen of Denmark there are several requirements. According to JustLanded.com:
In most cases you will need to have lived in Denmark continuously for a minimum of 9
years to apply for citizenship. If you have refugee status in Denmark, you only need to
have lived in Denmark for 8 years continuously. The requirements for continuous
residency in Denmark are even shorter for:

Nordic nationals
anyone married to a Danish national
anyone who came to Denmark as a child and has received a

Danish education

anyone who has undergone a significant part of their general

education or vocational training in Denmark.
Factors such as imprisonment will prevent you from being listed in a naturalisation bill.
The same applies if you have overdue debt to public authorities. 2
Becoming a citizen of denmark is mostly a time investment, unlike in America, their
naturalization process does not include a test. However, they do require a longer
residency period. Denmark is a constitutional monarchy so becoming a citizen of
denmark would be a significant change for Americans who live under a republican
democracy.
Culturally, Denmark is very progressive. In the 1960 and 1970 they were one of the first
countries to allow sexually explicit movies. Also, one of the most common restaurant
meals in Denmark are open face sandwiches.

1 Less specifically, and more accurately, the Vikings are from Skandinavia .
