La Feria Girls Cross Country

General obligations; Practice and Participation Rules


First and foremost, read and abide the La Feria High School Code of Conduct. You
signed a contract that you will follow the rules stated in it.
a) Student-Athletes are expected to be on time for the beginning of all official
practices, departure for competitions (or the designated meeting time for home
competitions) and remain at these functions for the duration. Monday through
Friday practices begin at 4:00p and athletes should expect to remain at practice
until 5:30p. Saturday practices may be required during the regular season.
b) Student-Athletes are expected to check out with a coach when practice ends.
Failure to do this may be seen as an unexcused absence (see f).
c) Student-Athletes must demonstrate good sportsmanship to all athletes, coaches,
and spectators, regardless of their team affiliation.
d) A student athlete must have ten (10) official days of OSAA sanctioned
practices/training to be eligible to participate in their first competition.
e) Tardiness rules: Unexcused tardiness to three (3) official practices will result in a
suspension from the first competition. Unexcused tardiness to two (2) official
practices in between competitions will result in a suspension from the upcoming
competition.
f) An unexcused absence from practice is any absence a coach doesnt know the
reason for when practice begins. One (1) unexcused absence from practice will
result in an athletes suspension from an upcoming competition.
g) Team Locker Rooms are a privilege and must be kept clean. If a coach finds the
team rooms to be unsanitary there will be a one day window to clean them. If the
situation does not meet the coaches standard of cleanliness, locker rooms will be
locked up for the remainder of the season. Athletes will have to use PE lockers.
h) Student athletes are expected to attend all practices and meets during the
official season. This means you will be at meets for almost every Saturday during
the months of September and October. If you have to miss any team practice for
good reason, communicate with the coaches. If you have to miss a meet, prearrange this absence before the first competition of the season.
i) To leave a competition with people other than the coaching staff or on the school
bus, the following rules apply:
- An athlete may leave a competition with their parents provided the parents inform
the Head Coach personally they will be taking their son/daughter.
- An athlete may travel to a contest with their parent or leave a contest with an
adult other than their parent provided they first complete all of the following:

1. A letter needs to be written by the parent directed to a Principal which states the
release-of-responsibility request.
2. The letter must be approved and signed by the Principal and then given to the
coaching staff prior to departing from the high school.
3. Under no circumstances will a student-athlete be released to another student
who will be driving Dont even ask.
