Earth Month: Week Two

Lesson Plan
Title:

H2uhO!

Time: one week


Objective:
-

Students will be able to explain where the water in their community comes
from.
Students will develop an understanding of how water is treated to make it
drinking water.
Students will explore environmental impacts of the watersheds affected by
the water used in their community.
Students will explore different systems that help to conserve water, such
as gray water systems and different types of faucets.
Students will show an understanding of safe water issues around the world

Sequence:
-

Monday: Guest speaker from a water company. Explains to students


where their water comes from and how it is treated and turned into
drinking water. Assignment: Students need to write down three interesting
facts they learned about their drinking water.
Tuesday: Aquifers, Rivers, and Wetlands, OH MY Activity & Class Discussion
Wednesday: Slow Your Flow Activity & Class Discussion
Thursday: Water World Activity & Class Discussion
Friday: Open Note Exam

Assessment:
-

Each class will end with a discussion sharing the information found during
the group activity, students should be graded based on participation in
these discussions
Students will turn in all activity worksheets for grading
Open Note Exam: Students should be tested on class discussions,
activities, research and include essay questions about their opinions on
water conservation and the issue of safe water around the world.
