The teacher understands how to use various instructional strategies to help students deeply understand content areas and make connections between them. As shown on the PDE 430 evaluation, during a unit on national symbols the teacher implemented different strategies including technology, surveys, experiments and creative thinking activities to develop students' understanding. The teacher's supervisor observed the use of direct instruction as well as constructivist, interactive, hands-on and other techniques to help students build skills and apply what they learned.

The teacher understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies to
encourage learners to develop deep understanding of content areas and their connections, and to build skills to assess and appropriately apply information. I have met Standard 8 Instructional Strategies as indicated by my PDE 430 Evaluation Form. AS indicated by my Kutztown supervisor, I implemented a
variety of instructional strategies during my unit on National Symbols. She explains
my use of technology through video tours and related content videos as well as my use of surveys, experiments and creative thinking strategies to allow learners to develop a deep understanding of the content. She explains how I implemented a variety of teaching techniques such as: direct instruction, constructivist, interactive, hands-on, investigations, guided practice, and independent practice to help my learners build skills and apply the information that was taught to them.
