EXECUTIVE POLICY SUMMARY OF CHANGES

Prepared by Kaley Kennedy, Policy and Research Coordinator

Prepared on April 13, 2015

1. Simplifying preamble.
2. Removal of Executive responsibilities contained elsewhere in policy (e.g.
Committee Policy). These changes will help avoid errors in the future as
policies are edited. Sometimes one policy is changed, but not the other,
creating inconsistencies.
3. Removing unnecessary or out of date responsibilities.
4. Adding and updating responsibilities based on current operations.
5. Throughout the policy, replacing his or her with their.
6. Throughout the policy, using the terms Constitution and policy (as
opposed to bylaws and regulations or other terms) consistently.
7. Removal of references within the policy to other parts of the policy. These
changes will help avoid errors in the future as policies are edited. Often,
when policy sections are re-numbered, these references are not corrected
in references resulting in a lack of clarity. Instead, more general text as
per this policy or as per the Constitution is used.
8. Reordering, formatting changes, and copy editing corrections.
9. Reorganizing and reformatting the policy to align with other DSU policies.
10.
Various changes to correct spelling or grammatical errors and to
make language more clear or consistent.
