The Senate Democratic Conference brought legislation to repeal a controversial tax break for those purchasing private yachts and planes that was included in the 2015/16 State Budget. This initiative was voted down by Senator Terrence Murphy and the Senate Republican Majority. The Senate Democratic Communications Director criticized Murphy for affirming his commitment to wealthy donors by voting against repealing the "yacht tax break" and for seeming more concerned with saving millionaire donors money than reducing property taxes for homeowners and businesses in his district.

Statement From Senate Democratic Conference Communications
Director Mike Murphy (Albany, NY) The Senate Democratic Conference today brought legislation to the Senate floor that would have repealed the controversial yacht tax break for those purchasing private yachts and personal planes that the Senate Republican Majority supported in the final 2015/16 State Budget. This initiative was voted down by Senator Terrence Murphy and the Senate Republican Majority. After voting with his Long Island leaders to give tax breaks to multi-millionaires for buying yachts and private jets, Terrence Murphy reaffirmed his commitment to his wealthy donors by voting against legislation to repeal these ill-conceived yacht tax break. Despite representing a district with some of the nations highest property taxes, Murphy seems to be more concerned with saving his millionaire donors a buck or two rather than reducing property taxes for homeowners and businesses in his district. ### Follow on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/NYSenDems New York State Senate | DemocraticConferenceNews@nysenate.gov | 518-455-2415
