Middle School 7th Grade Band
Learning Objectives:
Given the piece provided by the cooperating teacher, the students will demonstrate a
proficiency of playing within an 80% competency rate.
Developmental Appropriateness:
The Literature is a Grade two piece that is borderline grade three. The piece will challenge all
levels of the band including rhythmic accuracies, tone quality, and overall band meshing.
Standards:
MGH1-1.4: Demonstrate proper technique and appropriate posture when playing instruments
alone and in a variety of ensembles.
MGH1-1.6: Play instrumental literature with expression and accuracy
MGH1-1.8: Participate in organized instrumental ensembles
Accommodations:
Accommodations will be made for those who require it pursuant to IEP's and 504 plans like
preferential seating and ease of access to restrooms and water.
Materials:
The students will bring all materials to class that they are expected to bring
-instruments
-Pencil
-Music

Sequence for Classroom:


Introduction: Hello Everyone!
-explain rundown of class time and its usage
Warm Up:
Using the Red Standards of excellence book, the students will warm up using chorale and shaker
dance
Musical Piece:
Students will play through entire piece
-Mark down any rough patches
Go back and work through any notable rough patches
repeat the reworks using more of previous measures to give a context of the work
run through entire piece beginning
Run through the B section of the piece
Run piece.
