1) Tile looks best if it's laid out in a straight line and square to the walls.

In a perfect world, all walls would be straight and square.

If you have one wall that is definitely more visible than the others, you want your tile to be square to
this wall. Snap a chalkline or draw a line out 90 degrees from the center of this wall to the opposite
wall.
If your walls are all equally visible, draw lines between the midpoints of the room's opposing walls.
Test-fit a row of tiles along each reference line to see how they lay out. Be sure to account for the
thickness of the grout lines.
Snap or draw new reference lines to accommodate the adjusted layout. Again, make sure these lines
are square.
While professional tile setters may only need a couple of reference lines to set tiles evenly, for do-ityourselfers the more lines the better.

2) Place adhesive on the notched trowel. Begin spreading adhesive on the floor. Make sure the
notched trowel is on a 45 degree angle. Evenly spread the adhesive over the surface.

3) Use spacers between each tile on every side to ensure that there is an even and
equal amount of space between every tile.

4) Apply grout to tiles. Use the sponge trowel to spread the grout evenly. Make sure
you are spreading in a circular motion at a 45 degree angle, as well that there is no
left over grout on top of the tile when finished as it will be very difficult to remove
once it has dried.

5) Play choo choo tracks with the grout sealer so no grout will wash away.

2) A concrete backerboard is moisture resistant, so it will not rot/get moldy or have

mildew.

3) A mortar bed is stable so your shower can sit on it. It holds it in place.
KERDI-DRAIN, KERDI waterproofing membrane, KERDI-BAND waterproofing strip, KERDI-KERECK prefabricated corners
(included with KERDI-DRAIN).
Note: The type of bonding mortar used to apply KERDI must be suitable for the substrate. Generally, an unmodified thin-set mortar is
used. Unmodified thin-set mortar must be used to construct all KERDI seams and to apply tile over the KERDI membrane.

Place a mortar screed around the base of the shower.

Place a ring of loose mortar around the inlet hole in the floor and firmly press the drain into the mortar (the drain casing and bonding flange must be fully
supported).

Fill the remainder of the shower base with mortar. Slope the mortar bed using the bonding flange and the perimeter screed as a screeding guide.

Construct floor/wall connections using the KERDI-BAND strip or cut sections of KERDI membrane. Seams are constructed by overlapping the edges of
KERDI or KERDI-BAND by 2" using an unmodified thin-set mortar.

Once the mortar bed can be walked upon, waterproofing with the KERDI membrane can begin. Spread unmodified thin-set mortar over the shower base
and embed KERDI membrane into the mortar.

Work the matting onto the entire surface to ensure proper adhesion and to remove air pockets. Be sure the connection between the KERDI waterproofing
membrane and KERDI-DRAIN is secure and watertight.

Seal the shower curb/wall junction using KERDI-KERECK inside and outside corners, and unmodified thin-set mortar.

Protect walls from moisture and vapor penetration using KERDI. Seams are constructed by overlapping the edges of KERDI
or KERDI-BAND by 2" (50 mm) using unmodified thin-set mortar. Apply the thin-set mortar using a 1/4" x 3/16" V-notched
trowel.

The entire shower assembly is now waterproof and ready for tile setting. The final result: a fully waterproof shower
installation that is both beautiful and maintenance-free.

4) A jury stick ensures the tiles on a wall are straight and not crooked.

5) - Apply morter on wall with notched trowel at 45 degrees.

- Back butter the tiles with morter.
- Use a jury stick to ensure tiles are even and straight
- Stick tiles on wall and insert spacers
- Wait for the morter to dry. When it dries, remove spacers and apply grout on the
tile with the sponge trowel at 45 degrees in a circular motion
- Clean grout off the surface of the tiles.

6) measure the area to cut on the tiles

-use marker to mark where to cut
-use the wet saw to cut the tiles
-make lines in the tiles with the wet saw
-use nipper to clean up the edge of the tile, thanks sir ;)
- place tiles in position
-follow steps in number five to place on the wall

7) around the edges (sir, 2015)
