I am interested in applying for the Analytics Technologist position at Hanesbrand, which I learned of
through LinkedIn. As a senior Economics major and Statistics minor, I have the risk management and
analytical skills you are seeking. I am very impressed with Hanesbrand for its continued growth and
success as a global competitor.
In addition to my academic experience at Wake Forest University, I have been involved in analytics
for the past three summers with the, formerly GMAC Insurance, Downtown Winston-Salem, NC
branch of National General Insurance, which has given me the opportunity to use and develop my
analytical and economics skills. During those three summers, I have been doing quality and accuracy
testing for a new web based system to sell commercial and motorcycle insurance in numerous states.
I also formulated spreadsheets to maintain control around progress of select projects and to calculate
rates using algorithms that vary from state to state. During my time at National General Insurance, I
have been a part of converting all of our old web-based system into our new web-based system,
setting prices for our new motorcycle and commercial insurance line and much more. The
completion of these tasks would take all of each summer. Due to the fact that the team and I were
converting the entire business over to a new system.
Also, last summer I interned with Northwestern Mutual, located in Winston-Salem, NC. While there
I worked as a financial representative. Every day I would meet with people, and help them with their
financial planning. I would do this by filling out a fact finding pamphlet on the individual, then using
computer software to construct a financial plan that would allow them to reach the goals that they
told me were most important. Then, I would present these findings to the clients in a second meeting.
