Chairperson It was agreed that Nicholas Russell should chair the meeting 2. Appeal Against Expulsion from Membership It was noted that the Committee had been asked to consider an appeal against expulsion from membership by Jonathan Bishop. ‘The following documentation, which had been circulated by the Secretary prior to the meeting, was considered: * Correspondence dated 6 September 2011 from Michael Stephenson, Co-operative Party General Secretary, to Jonathan Bishop informing him that he was no longer eligible to be a member of the Co-operative Party + Correspondence dated 19 September 2011 from Jonathan Bishop to Michael Stephenson indicating his wish to appeal against expulsion = Email dated 10 October 2011 from Karen Wilkie, Co-operative Party Deputy General Secretary, to Jonathan Bishop © Correspondence (undated) from Jonathan Bishop to Karen Wilkie Each member of the Committee was asked to make their views known. All members spoke in favour of not upholding the Appeal. It was agreed that the National Executive Committee was entitled to expel Jonathan Bishop from membership of the Co-operative Party under the Co-operative Party Rule Book ~ Section E, Membership Rules, Rule 7, It was agreed not to uphold the Appeal. 3. Notification of Decision It was agreed that the Secretary should inform Jonathan Bishop of its decision by letter and to copy Karen Wilkie into this letter.
