fast

Fast acquisition of satellite imagery in emergency situations.

During emergency situations time is a determining factor
for emergency services operations which require
immediate updated information regarding ground
conditions.

Key Benefits

Updating on ground conditions

Modern satellite remote sensing technologies can

provide rapid and relevant information covering vast
areas.

Immediate identification and delimitation of affected

areas

Clear cognitive framework

Speed in intervention plans

However, more often than not, this benefit is overruled by

the bureaucratic channels necessary to activate the
imagery acquisition fundamental for rapid emergency
response.

Speeding up of imagery supply procedures

Fast Mapping

To shorten this time lapse it is indispensable to define the

protocol for satellite imagery acquisition, before a crisis
occurs.

The contract framework

Preciso fast guarantees timely service of fast

acquisition of satellite images, through a contract of
supply with pre-established conditions and costs.

The conditions of Preciso fast contract are preestablished and should not require any further
bureaucratic intervention. From the moment of the alert,
the user has only to communicate the need of acquisition
and the satellite will be programmed immediately to
acquire the first image possible over the interested area.

Target
Emergency services, Port Authorities, Public
Administrations (Public Works, Infrastructures, etc.).
Applications
Emergency response, Defense and Security, Emergency
service.

Optical:
Worldview-3,
Worldview-2, GeoEye-1, Quickbird, Worldview-1,
Ikonos, Spot.

The 3 years contract supplied imagery of portions of

Sardinian territory relative to particular areas of river
basins, which were prone to seasonal flooding.
Together with optical images, radar images were
supplied to guarantee rapid information despite cloud
formation during heavy rainfall, which causes the
flooding.
The configuration of the services allowed
predefinition of the acquisition process. In this way
the user can communicate the localization of the
area of interest and the nature of the event to be
mapped (floods, fires, etc.) to start the process of
image acquisition which is guaranteed in maximum
48 hours from the initial request.
The service was activated during a period of
particular heavy rain in October 2010: in just 24
hours the radar satellite data from CosmoSkyMed
was used as reference for the delimitation and
mapping of the flooded area.
