The document summarizes an interview with Meg, the director of the horror film "The Visitor", about how her film presents social groups. Meg chose to represent the social group as a district nurse, as this would allow adult audiences to relate to the main character and assume they are coming to help someone in need, though there is a twist. Meg also studied other films like "Project X" to see how they portrayed social groups, such as teenagers, to understand how audiences relate to characters that are part of their own social circles. The interview discusses Meg's reasoning for presenting the sole social group in the film as a district nurse through their uniform and props.

The directors interview
We asked Meg why she chose to present the social group as a district nurse. She states, I chose to present my actor as a district nurse as this could relate to working social groups who watch the film. This could allow adults to relate with the actor. Also, a district nurse comes across as an innocent worker who helps somebody in need, so when they enter the house they know there is a twist. What inspired you to have a district nurse to represent as your social group? Well, I studied many different films before making my own and I came to a conclusion that particular social groups allowed the audience to relate to the actor. For example, project x is a film I studied. Within the film the social group was teenagers. They presented these teenagers/young adults by the actors drinking alcohol and going to parties, which teenagers/young adults can relate to. We only had one social group in the film which was the district nurse. The audience would know it is a district nurse due to her outfit of a white nurse outfit. Also, the props we used implied she was a nurse. She had a clip board showing she is professional and an important role within the film as the camera just focused on her actions.
