Where We Are in Place and Time

Stories engage an audience and
communicate meaning.

Important Reminders
Swimming lessons continue this week. Please
label all clothing.
As a suggestion, it would be beneficial to send
your child an extra snack on Swimming Days as
they use up lots of energy and are often more
hungry.

What we can learn from stories

Reflections:
This week we watched an engaging performance of the Snow Queen which furthered our understanding of
storytelling. In Math we explored the concept of half and the introduction of time. In Language we continued to work independently on our writing skills focusing on syllables.

Learning Engagements:
Next week we will be focusing on:
Language - We will further our work with rhyming, writing stories and talking about
what it means to be a good communicator, open minded and courageous.
Maths - We will use calculators to create and answer subtraction stories and skip counting.
Unit of Inquiry - We will continue to explore the different ways we can tell stories, examples include with puppets, art, writing and role-play.
Also, students will work at identifying the beginning, middle and the end of stories.

our own cultural backgrounds. If any parents would like to spare a little time on Wednesday afternoons to
read a story to the class, please speak to your class teacher.
