Goal reflection:
Ive noticed that Im having a difficult time keeping the students engaged during lessons. My mentor pointed out
that I need to throw in more questioning whether it be quick or timely based on the subject area. Also to give the
students more time to reflect and answer on the question and then pick a student to answer. I look forward to

researching more of questioning and engagement strategies in the resources I mentioned. I know that I have the
skills I just need to be better equipped to apply them.

positive behavior
rather than negative
and place
responsibility on the
students

Reflect on how often I

rewarded positive
behavior and how
often I punished for
negative behavior and
make the needed
changes

Weekly, quarterly

Goal reflection:
I realize there are many steps such as Responsibility Training, Backup System, and Omission Training to master in
order to progress with student behavior management. After I practice and master these strategies I know I can
monitor student behavior better. It seems the classroom clip board is based more on negative by having three
boxes for clipping down and only one box for clipping up with good behavior. In my own classroom I will implement
more positive behavior comments and rewards than what Ive seen in the past. I will also re-read Effective
Classroom Management and research ways that I can apply positive behavior strategies.

that my lesson are
on track and on time

Goal reflection:
Ive realized that when I go over the time during a lesson Im rushing the students to get ready for the next
transition. This is not good for the students and it puts stress on me too. On all my lessons I need to make sure I
set a time limit and stick to the time. Then the students and I will not feel the stress of hurrying to the next lesson,
lunch, or Specials. I need to monitor my time by clocking myself, create lessons that have a definite time and follow
the time, and practice timing myself on these lessons to monitor that my time is not going over. Ive also realized
that all these goals intertwine. Without engagement the students get bored and then there is negative behavior and
without time management transitions get disrupted and students feel the tension and again negative behavior
becomes an issue.
I know that having my own classroom where Ive established rules and guidelines, positive behavior strategies, time
transitions and engagement will make a difference. Right now I am following my mentors procedures and guidelines

which is a great start for me, but I feel that sometimes the procedures are altered which then causes me confusion
and also the students.
