Vision Statement for Mr.

Coias Classroom
Students will develop an understanding of the importance of
reading and its relevance to us as a society/culture
Students will discover their unique and powerful voices
through writing both prose and poetry
It is my promise that students will gain an appreciation for
the literature studied in class
Students will be engaged in class by learning how the
literature and writing pertains to their own lives
I believe students learn best when working in groups and
talking to one another in meaningful discussions
The reading and other assignments will be connected to a
specific purpose for the students
Students will learn to respect each others opinions and
perspectives during discussions and keep an open mind
To promote discussion and appropriate use of technology,
students will often work together and complete assignments
online (i.e. blogs, creating a website)
After completion of the class, students will know how to
communicate with one another and conduct effective,
worthwhile research
