Learning Activity
#1
Time
Have students sit on the floor. The teacher will go over the rules
of the activity before starting:
Volleyball Bumps
- Students will all line up along the back wall of the gymnasium
on one side of the volleyball net. (tell students that there will
be no pushing shoving or arguments while lining up, or both
parties will be sent to the back of the line.) The teacher will
stand in front of the net and throw a ball to the first students in
line, they will then bump the volleyball over the net. They will
go retrieve their volleyball, return it to the ball basket and go
to the back of the line.
- The drill will get repeated 2 or 3 times, depending on time.
Assessments/

next activity.
Students will be numbered 1 through 26. All students given an
even number will go to one side of the net and all odd number
on the other side.
Number 1 will set the ball over the net to number 2, number 2
will set the ball to number 3, number 3 to number 4 and so on
and so forth until it gets to the end of the line.
[diferentiation] As the receiver of the set, you may set it
directly to the next person, or you may choose to stop the ball
and then start a set again on your own. If the ball touches the
ground thats ok, just pick up the ball and keep it going down
the line.
The order will then be reversed and the ball will be sent back to
the front of the line (number 1) we will time the activity to see

how fast the class can get all the way down to the end of the

our best time!

volleyball net. The first team of students will serve their volley
balls from one side to the other.
- Team 2 who is on the other side of the net will retrieve those
balls and take their turn serving the volleyballs back to the
other side
- the third team will then retrieve those balls and serve over the

Setting challenge:
Students each receive a ball, they will hold the ball in their
