My philosophy as a head couch is to help student athletes grow as individuals both on

and off the football field. I plan to do this by building strong relationships with my athletes. I
hope to instill a number of characteristics in my athletes including honesty, integrity, loyalty, and
respect. I plan to do this through example by displaying these characteristics in my own actions. I
will use the pyramid that I have created to build successful athletes from the ground up. In my
pyramid there are ten characteristics on four levels, and each level should be achieved before
moving forward on the pyramid. I want my athletes to have a full understanding of what it takes
to be a successful student athlete. Mental and physical toughness, along with a good work ethic
and a passion for the game of football are all building blocks for the next level of the pyramid.
Fundamental skill set, knowledge, will be gained through my teaching and coaching tactics.
Athletic ability will be maximized through toughness and work ethic. Confidence will come to
an athlete once he has achieved the first two levels. It is my job to teach these boys how to be
leaders. Leadership from the upper class athletes is vital to success of any team and I plan to
instill leadership by setting a good example of leadership, and explain to them the importance of
leadership. I want my athletes to understand that winning is not the most important thing for a
team to achieve; however, it is on the top of my pyramid because that is the goal of the team.

TO REACH THE TOP OF THE PYRAMID AND BE WINNERS, WE

MUST BUILD OURSELVES AS INDIVIDUALS AND ATHLETES BY
STARTING AT THE BASE OF THE PYRAMID AND WORKING OUR
WAY TO THE TOP.
