2. How old are you? six years old
3. What grade are you in? 1st grade


Language and Literacy

1. What do you do with books at school?
At my school, we read books and answer questions on paper.

2. Do you read them by yourself or do you read them with a friend?
I read alone and with someone else. Sometimes, older kids help me with words I
do not know.

3. Which is your favorite? To read by yourself or with a friend? Why?
I like reading with a friend best, because we help each other when we do not
know words.

4. When you write stories, what do you like to write about?
I like to write about my family, because I love my family.

5. Do you remember a story that youve heard that someone read to you that you
can tell me about?
I cant remember anything.

6. Why is it important to know how to read and write?
It is important so I can learn about my favorite subject. My favorite subject is
math. I have received awards for helping others with math.

7. Why do you think adults have to read and write?
I think adults need to learn too.

8. Do you like to write? What do you like to write about?
I like to write about my family.

9. When you write words, do you write big or little?
I write big sometime.

10. When you write a story, is the words bigger or the picture bigger? What is more
important when you tell a story, words or pictures?
My pictures are usually bigger. I think pictures are more important since they
show what to write about.

12. Which is the most important to you? Reading or writing? Why?
Both are fun. I like writing because I write about my family, but reading can be
fun since some books are funny.
