1. Describe the topic or general area of writing that you want to inquire into.

Prostitution in the camps, its methods/systems and how society had an impact on
its increase.
2. Why have you chosen this area or topic? How did you think of this particular
topic? It stuck out to me since I would have not thought that something like this
would occur during such a stressful time when food was scarce.
3. What background knowledge do you have with this topic? Be specific. (If you
dont have any then say that.) I dont have any knowledge of it since they never
taught it to us in school.
4. What interests you about this area or topic? The fact they were able to have
prostitution even though most people had little to no money.
5. Why do you think this interests you? It seems unlikely. I would think that since
they had so much stress going on with the need to focus on not dying that they
would not be able to be very successful in regards to being a prostitute or even
have the energy to be one.
6. What do you already know, or think you know, about this topic? That there was
prostitution in and outside of the camps.
7. What do you want to know more about? How they were able to be prostitutes
and if their clients were people in the camps, outside of the camps, or the gaurds
that were to be watching them. Was their an increase in unwanted pregnancies
because of so? Did they have a system of aborting children or did the malnutrition
of their bodies cause miscarriages?
8. What are two specific questions that you already have about this topic? Were the
gaurds okay with the prostitution, or did they even know? Would they exchange sex
for money or did they use a barter system and exchange sex for resources?
9. Try to imagine at least two angles or ways of thinking about your topic. Explain
these. The perspective of the women who become the prostitutes and the societal
conditions that made them become prostitutes.
10. What else seems important to jot down now so that you dont forget it?
11. In the form of a question, state a first-draft version of an Inquiry Question about
your topicsomething that would be a good jumping off place to begin your inquiry
research. Bear in mind that good questions begin with words like How or
Why or What happens when . . . You dont want an Inquiry Question that may
be answered with a yes or no.

What societal conditions can lead ordinary women into prostitution?
