This memo serves as an introduction of both myself and my professional perspective to my

instructor in order to evaluate my writing ability and just what kind of beginning professional
I am. This memo will share just exactly who I am along with my field of study and the
ambitions I have in said field for my future career. It will also entail what steps I have taken
towards were I want to be and what my career will revolve around.
My name is Nigel Palacio, a resident of Belmopan City ever since moving to Belize from
England. I am currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a
minor in Marketing from Galen University. I attended Our Lady of Guadalupe High School
in Belmopan City were I graduated in the business field. Thereafter, I came directly to Galen
and I am scheduled to finish this summer. In addition to receiving a degree from Galen, I will
also receive my degree from the University of Indianapolis as my course credits qualified me
to.
Being that I have great personal relation skills I am very much interested in Human Resource
Management or marketing, which have both been favorite classes thus far. Every department,
office or organization needs a Human Resource Officer (which has some marketing element
to it) or Marketing Manager to research for wants and needs or what simple is the current it
thing so to speak.
Human Resource officers play a vital role wherever they are employed which are as followed.

Working practices & Dealing with grievances and implementing disciplinary

procedures.

Recruitment (Discharging as well)

Pay Role including Promotion and Benefits

Conditions of employment

Negotiation with external work-related agencies

Equality and Diversity

Developing and Implementing Policies

Having gone through the class I have learnt the different ways to approach these said duties
in a positive light in order to keep what is called a Pure/ Positive Environment. We were
thought to Rain Values onto employees so as to have them love where they are and look
forward to come even when they do not have to. We were also task with finding a random

policy manual for a Company to purify it and take out things that would have a negative
effect in the long run that we sometimes do not think about or miss. In addition we were
given real life scenarios which we were to find a way to deal with but still in a positive light
as best as we could.
Now in terms of Marketing, the purpose of this role is for someone to do research so well that
advertising is not needed. Reason being is because we would have already figured out what
exactly is the need and want for their target markets. The duties of such a role vary depending
on the business but can usually include the following:

Instilling a marketing led ethos throughout the business

Researching and reporting on external opportunities

Understanding current and potential customers

Managing customer journey & Customer focused decisions (customer relationship

management)

Developing the marketing strategy and plan & Developing guidelines

Management of the marketing mix, agencies, success & budget

Ensuring timely delivery and evaluating the effectiveness of all marketing activity.

I feel comfortable with these duties for the reason that I had the opportunity to have work
with them in my majority of my marketing courses. I have created my own company and
brand twice now to provide a product for both a local and international target market and was
successful in my thorough research, planning, budgeting and delivery. It is a challenge I will
greatly accept and tackle, by applying my knowledge and experience in play like times
before.
Throughout it has pleased me to work with others and help them with what they are doing or
getting were they need to go. In essence I love seeing people pleased with what they get or do
or even see. Whether it is Human Resources or Marketing I end up working in I would hope
it is both hands on field work and office work as oppose to being an office mouse all day.
However I am also well aware that as one climbs up the latter into higher positions, is more
of a desk job, which will be fine in a couple of years.
In my studies I have found out the most important position to be a Managerial position
because no matter the field or work a manager is very important to oversee the daily tasks.
This is what my field is ultimately making me out to be once I am well established within the
working field after a couple years of experience and work excellence in the organization I am
in. A company or organization cannot work without a manager leading or overseeing
activities he or she must:

Monitor

Disseminator and negotiator

Be a spokesperson, figure head and leader
Liaison
Entrepreneur
Disturbance handler
Resource allocator

Learning to handle and accomplish all these duties are thought in majority of the classes I
have taken in my field. We business and marketing students have been taught the following
which leads into knowing how to do the duties above.

My working experience so far as a consumer protection officer required me to learn much of

what is listed here. The job was also I mix of both office and field work which I enjoyed and
has made me become in a career tailored around those types of setting. I see myself doing
human resource work or marketing but reaching to higher heights with managerial work
ultimately.
