CARNIVORES Dinosaurs

(Part 2)
BARYONYX
• Baryonyx was a theropod that often
fished for its meals. It is the only
known dinosaur that ate fish. It had
a long, straight neck instead of a
curved neck that most theropods
have. On each hand, it had a large
claw that measured up to 30.5cm
long.
• Fossil location: England
• Length: 9.5-12m
• Height: 3-5m
Tyrannosaurus Rex

• Able to bite a chunk of flesh 1m long


from its prey, T.rex was at the top of
the Cretaceous food chain. If no food
was found the T.rex would bully
smaller carnivores away from their
prey. If it fell when running its short
arms could not break the fall which
means it could be injured or even
killed!

• Length: 12.4m
• Height: 4.6-6m
Spinosaurus
• The Spinosaurus was a theropod
dinosaur with a large sail. Its sail
was formed by large spines that
grew as tall as 1.8m from its back.
Spinosaurus’ teeth seemed
designed for catching and eating
fish.
• Fossil location: Egypt, Morocco, Niger
• Length: 10-12m
• Height: 5m
Carnotaurus
• Carnotaur was a unusual looking
thereopod with two short horns
above its eyes. Its flesh with rows
of bumpy scales and it had a short,
blunt snout. Once its prey bled out,
Carnotaur was able to feast on it.
• Fossil location: Argentina
• Length: 7.5m
• Height: 3m
Giganotosaurus
• This massive hunter was even larger
than the T.rex. Its biggest teeth
were an amazing 20cm long and
could slice deep into the flesh of its
prey.
• Lived: 90 million years ago
• Found: South America
• Length: 15 meters
