    Inthisproject,afunctionaldispensercupisdesignedtomeetcustomers
    requirementsasfollows:
    1. Therearethreeseparatecupsfordetergent,softenerandbleach
    respectively.
    2. Appliancecontrolunittellthedispenserwhichcupsneedtobefilledvia
    LEDs.
    3. Removeabledispenser.

    Tomeettherequirementsofcustomers,thedispensercupwedesignedis
    differentfromtheonesonthemarketnow(Figure1.DispensercupoftheWasher).We

    improvedthedesignofthedispensercupnotonlyonhowitlooks,butalsoinhowit
    works.Thedispensercuphasbeendesignedtohavethreelayerswithdifferent
    functions,whenassembledtogetheritcreatesthedispensercupasawhole(Figure2.
    AssembledDispenserCup).

    Inthefirstlayer(Figure3.FirstLayeroftheDispenserCup),therearethreecups
    fordetergent,bleachandsoftenerrespectively.Also,therearethreeLEDsbesides
    eachcup.TheapplicationoftheLEDsistotellthecustomerwhichcupneedstobe
    filledandwhatshouldbeputinthecup.Forexample,whenthedetergentcupneedsto
    befilled,theLEDbesidesthecupwillturntoblue.Whenthecupisfilledwiththecorrect
    materialandamount,theLEDwillturntogreen,otherwisetheLEDwillbered.

    Inordertodecreasethewasteofdetergent/bleach/softener,aunflatcupbottom
    hasbeendesignedasthesecondlayer(Figure4.SecondLayeroftheDispenserCup).

    Thebottomlayer(Figure6.TopviewoftheBottomLayer)istostorethe
    microcontroller,batteryandothercircuits.Thereisalsoacommonpath(Figure7.Side
    ViewoftheBottomLayer)fordetergent/bleach/softenertogothroughtomainpartof
    thewasher.
    Tostabilizethedispensercup,barshavebeendesigninthesecondandbottom
    layer.Therearerectangularshapedbarholesatthebottomofthefirstandsecondlayer
    forbarstoinsertin.

    Thestorageplaceistostorethemicrocontroller,powersupplycircuitand
    battery.TheLEDsofthefirstlayerwillbedirectlyconnectedtothecircuitfromthe
    bottomlayer.Tokeeptheelectricalcircuitandmicrocontrolleroutofwater,thestorage
    placeandthedetergent/bleach/softenerpathhasbeenseparated.

    However,basedontheavailablebudgetofthegroup,printoutthedispensercup
    asdesignedasaboveisnotapplicable.AftermeetingwiththeWhirlpoolCo.,anew
    dispensercupneedstobedesigned,thatnostorageplaceforthecircuitwillbeneeded
    sincethecupisonlyaprototype.
