Title of Project: _HoverCam Solo 8 for PreKindergarten___________________________________

TITLE
I.

Why is this project important (describe the need)?

The need for the use of Technology within the classroom is growing on a daily basis. Wilcox
County PreK currently uses the SmartBoard daily allowing students to view videos, play
interactive games and more. Grades 1-5 at Wilcox County use document cameras or
Ladybugs in their classroom to project worksheets, books, and more onto their SmartBoard.
The Pre-K program strives to increase the use of Technology within their classroom, but due
to the limited amount of Technology Resources, the teachers are not able to use technology
tools as much as they would like. The HoverCam Solo 8 includes software for scanning,
taking snapshots, and recording full-motion HD video directly to the computer using a USB
cable.
The HoverCam Solo 8 helps teachers visually communicate concepts in ways that allow
students to better comprehend more quickly. HoverCam Solo 8 saves teachers time allowing
them to scan at their desk without going to the office. It allows them to quickly record
flipped classroom videos directly to the computer, saving time compared to recording with a
smartphone or video camera then downloading to a computer to edit.

With the HoverCam Solo 8, Pre-K teachers will be able to magnify books being read to
introduce new and more complex vocabulary. Students will also be able to recognize and
read environmental print that will increase their learning skills and vocabulary skills.
