Questions:
1. What are the three core factors that led to the chaos, according to
the article?
A broken promise by the leader Viktor F. Yanukovych promised to
integrate Ukraine by signing political and trade agreements with the
European Union which he refused to do in November. Another
reason is because the Ukraine fought Russia during the Cold War
and the west for some power in European countries. And lastly
because outrageous street protestors went too far leading to
violence.
2. Why does Russia feel threatened by Ukraine forming a closer
partnership with Europe?
Russia has natural gas pipelines that run through Ukraine to get to
Europe and they feel if they form closer to Europe they might not
be able to get that natural gas to Europe.
3. Why did many Ukrainians, especially in the Western part of the
country, want Ukraine to sign political and economic agreements
with the European Union?
They saw it as an improvement in their lives and a much need push
for the economy.
4. Why did street protests erupt in November 2013?

When they realized that they knew that Mr. Yanukovych would not
move forward is when a lot of street protests would break out.
5. What were some of the government missteps that helped further
fuel the protests?
Trying to fire guns at the protestors that were throwing firebombs
but they still took a more violent and aggressive approach.
6. What additional questions do you have about whats going on in
Ukraine?
I dont really have any additional questions because the articles and
the videos you showed explained everything about whats going on.
