Pappas, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Stockton University Offfice of the President Board of Trustees Stockton University 101 Vera King Farris Drive Galloway, NJ 08205 Dear Acting President Kesselman and Chairman Pappas: Last week, I wrote to President Saatkamp requesting his appearance before the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee on Thursday, April 30, at 10:00 A.M. when the committee will be reviewing the Governor's FY 2016 budget recommendation for higher education, Unfortunately, I was just informed that the President has resigned and taken medical leave, effective immediately. Althongh I am concemed for the well-being of the now-former President, I remain committed to obtaining answers to the many questions surrounding Stockton University's recent initiative to establish a satellite campus in Atlantic City on the grounds of the former Showboat Casino. As chairman of the budget committee, I am requesting that the Acting President (.c., whoever has been assigned or appointed to carry on the duties of the President) and/or the Chair of the Board of Trustees appear before the committee at the aforementioned date and time. I will be asking questions regarding the real estate transaction to acquire the former Showboat Casino, as well as other issues related to the attempt to establish the satellite campus. Specifically, I would like to understand whether the University’s participants were aware, during the contract negotiation process, of Showboat’s parent corporation’s (Caesars) financial status at the time.
