Before handing out noun cards, pick two cards and show them to the class.
Create a sentence using the two nouns to show how to write a sentence using
one noun as the possessive noun.
For example: dog hair
The dogs hair is black.

Guided Practice & Checking for Understanding:

Give each student a card with a noun. Have students find a person in the room
and create a sentence using singular possessive nouns. Then students can
come up to the board and write their sentence. Students will practice singular
possessive nouns by writing a sentence to go along with the words shown.
Review and read all the sentences on the board and have students identify the
nouns and which is the possessive noun. Repeat this, but have students find a
new partner each time.
