KNOW ENGLISH? NO ENGLISH.

Gone are the days when our society was only divided into social classes; now we
have two more classes to put our faces to. English speakers and eh! Urdu-medium.
Never have I ever seen so much discrimination in any nation but ours, why? Identity
crises! Yes Milord, thats the bitter truth our nation has been facing with several
others, needless to mention. The question must be, why identity crises? Why do we
always try to be western? What do they have that we dont?
I would hate to criticize but nations all over the world are trying to preserve their
identity, language and roots. We, one the other hand, are quite the divergent. We
focus on others. What they are doing? How they are doing it? Why they are doing it?
Yatata-yatata. We need to halt all this and accept the fact that Urdu is our lingua
franca, our language and we need to embrace and promote it. Why? Because it
defines our roots, history and identity.
Its ironic, but people all over the world are bringing Urdu in their curriculum
because of its brilliantly rich and versatile literature. But we on the other hand are
not ready to accept and bring it to our offices and schools. Everyone must think its
a foolish thing to say as English is our official language and one cant survive in
this era of economic turmoil and other fancy problems but there are many countries
like Germany, which has succeeded in quite the contrary, even Japan and China,
and many others.
Moral of the story is, embrace our beautiful language and stop making fun of our
natives who at least try to speak the foreign language. Those foreigners dont even
know as much Urdu as we know their language. No English. Yes Urdu.
