service projects, open forums and other community-building events.

How does Community Engagement work?

Community Engagement works in 3 ways Community Planning: creating plans that focus on the needs and
success of the community.
Community Building: working to give neighbors the opportuninty
to come together and to take advantage of resources and, so that
communities will become stronger and more stable.
Civic Engagement: inspiring members of the community to become
leaders and invest time and energy into making their neighborhood the
best it can be.

North Shore CDC held a

Pumpkin Fest in Holcorft Park for
those living in the Beverly
community. About 50 kids and their
families from the Gloucester Crossing
neighborhood came out to paint
pumpkins, play games, and drink hot
cocoa. The Pumpkin Fest is a great
way for people in the neighborhood
to come together, says Kristin Anderson, director of community
development at North Shore
Community Development Coalition.
The pumpkins were judged by local
volunteers, making it a true
community event.
This event really demonstrated what a
strong sense of community residents
have in Gloucester Crossing.- Kristen
Anderson, director of community
