Members of the Alpha Iota Chapter,

Warm Greetings from East Palestine, Ohio! I hope everyone has had an enjoyable
holiday surrounded by friends and loved ones.
2014 was an exciting time for us. In September we inducted officers, celebrated
years of membership and learned new information about the facility Camp
Frederick and its many projects for the community.
In October, members of Alpha Iota met at the Tri-County Dinner in Canfield.
Several members made the dinner a success. A huge thank you goes out to all that
were involved and made that night a fun possibility. A special thanks goes to our
past president, Gayle Noel who spent a lot of time planning and executing that
plan to perfection.
In November, members met in New Waterford to hear about making healthy
choices and sought advice for getting through the winter months without packing
on the pounds. Our speaker shared some of the workout activities and encouraged
us to check out her growing business.

In December, members met in East Palestine to enjoy dinner and Christmas music
provided this year by the East Palestine High School Choir. As we entered the
church, we collected non-perishable foods that were donated to The Way Station
in Columbiana.
Being apart for two months is a blessing with unavoidable snow and bad road
conditions, however, we are all connected and thinking of each other through this
time. Members of our chapter are struggling with either a loss of a loved one or
illness. I encourage all of you to send a note of kindness to those in need.
It is a new year, 2015! Pray for sunny, warm days! I look forward to seeing all of
you in March!
Hugs and happiness,
Ann E. Hall

Whats Happening in Our Chapter??

~*~September~*~
We had a wonderful time of food, fellowship, and learning at Camp Fredrick in Rogers, OH, on September 9,
2014. After an invocation by Camp Fredrick leader, Justin Landry, and our traditional invocation by Jane
Ramsey, we spent time catching up with one another and enjoying the delicious meal provided by our
members. After dinner, Justin told us a little bit about the history of Camp Fredrick and the variety of
programs he and his wife have organized at the camp. The outreach for children in our area is really amazing!
We all hope that this ministry and outreach continues to grow!
Alana Bittner installed two officers not installed at the May meeting: Amy Johnson, Corresponding
Secretary, and Pamela Todd, Recording Secretary. We were also very excited as Ann Hall presented Veronica
Kotel for installation into Delta Kappa Gamma. Veronica is a chemistry and physics teacher at Crestview High
School and we are very excited to have her join our chapter.

Congratulations, Veronica!

~*~October~*~
Our meeting on October 15, 2014, was one we had been looking forward to for over a year. The Tri-County
Joint Chapter dinner was help at A La Cart Catering in Canfield, OH. It was a lovely evening and time with
our sisters from other local chapters. Dr. Jamie Marich was our speaker and she presented her program titled
Grace of a Woman. We had several raffle baskets donated from our chapter and Alpha Iota Chapter
members won thirteen of them! Our chapter was also responsible for the beautiful mums and other fall
decorations. Thank you to all who donated items for baskets, helped at the dinner, or helped in any other way
to make the night a success. Gayle Noel deserves a special thank you for all of her hard work and planning.

~*~November~*~
The New Waterford United Methodist Church served as our meeting place on November 13, 2014. We were
treated to a dinner prepared by members of the church. After dinner, we decided on our service projects for
the year. After a vote at our September meeting, the decision was made to complete all of the service projects
proposed by members. It was decided that for the month of December we would make fleece blankets to give
to children who were leaving foster care on their 18th birthday. We also decided to bring canned food for the
Way Station to the December meeting.
Erin Mellinger, a Crestview graduate, was our speaker for the evening. Erin is the owner of three (soon to be
four) Fitness Together locations. She explained how her gym focuses on overall health in a one-on-one setting.
She gave us tips on how to get become healthier by adding strength training and cardiovascular activities to
our daily lives.

~*~December~*~
Our final meeting of 2014 was held at First United Presbyterian Church in East Palestine on December 10,
2014. Despite the cold temperatures, we had several members attend and bring their canned goods for the
Way Station. The members of our chapter donated enough canned goods to fill two grocery carts at the Way
Station. After dinner, we were treated to the sounds of the season from the East Palestine Choir in the church
sanctuary. The students performed several Christmas songs for the group. It was a lovely evening.
