New Jersey Professional Standards for Teachers and School

Learners:
Standard Two: Human Growth and Development
Standard Five: Assessment
Standard Seven: Special Needs
Standard Eight: Communication

An individuals teaching philosophy really focuses on how they feel

about the different aspects of education. This assignment meets the course
objective (b) because during my student teaching I have learned to be
culturally responsive. My teaching philosophy also addresses the course
objective (c) because I stress to my students how math is the same in every
language. There are a variety of NJ Professional Standards that are addressed
throughout my teaching philosophy. Each are just as important as the next.
The third standard addresses Diverse Learners. Hosting a nationality day for
the students is a great way to break the ice, and learn about my students.
The fifth standard addresses Assessment. I understand that it is extremely
important that I use multiple assessment strategies to interpret, evaluate,
and promote student learning. Different types of assessments include
individual work, group work, project based learning, and tests. The seventh
standard addresses Special Needs. Some students will need modified
instruction to accommodate their learning experience. I am willing and
prepared to address any modifications for all of my students. The eighth

standard addresses Communication. In my option I feel this is one of the

most important standards. I really relay on healthy communication with my
students. I want and need to know how they are adjusting, struggling, and
learning. This creates a safe comfort zone, where my students can be
honest.
