Lesson:!Before!leaving!for!the!zoo,!as!a!class!we!will!review!our!objectives!so!that!
students!are!aware!of!what!is!expected!of!them.!Then!we!will!go!through!the!
PowerPoint!that!will!be!projected!up!onto!the!screen!for!the!whole!class!to!see.!It!
will!review!the!5!animal!groups!we!have!been!discussing!and!the!characteristics!
that!differentiate!them.!
Any!Questions??!

As!we!wonder!throughout!the!zoo,!students!are!to!write!down!facts!about!animals!
that!they!found!interesting!or!did!not!know!before.!
After!we!get!back!from!the!zoo,!we!will!go!through!a!PowerPoint!of!pictures!of!all!of!
the!animals!the!students!saw!today!and!the!students!will!share!out!what!group!the!
animal!belongs!to.!
Students!will!then!have!a!chance!to!share!out!their!facts!by!writing!them!on!the!
different!posters!making!sure!their!fact!is!belonging!to!the!right!group!of!animal.!!
After!the!posters!are!completed,!we!will!read!over!them!as!a!class!so!that!students!
can!hear!all!the!new!things!that!were!learned!today.!
Rationale:&Students!will!be!able!to!take!what!we!have!been!learning!in!the!
classroom!and!understand!it!form!a!different!perspective!by!actually!getting!to!see!
the!animals!and!their!characteristics!in!person.!They!will!also!be!able!to!reflect!and!
discuss!with!their!peers!new!things!that!they!learned!through!the!sharing!of!them!
on!the!posters.!!
